Decoding Men: Top 8 Dating Myths Revealed!
September 8, 2010 by admin · 7 Comments
Traditional dating says that men should ask the girl first and not the other way around. In this day and age, do traditional dating rules still apply? Below are 8 dating myths, revealed by men themselves!
Myth #1: Guys should always pay the bill when dining out. On first dates, yes, maybe. But we’re not in the olden times anymore. While ladies paying for dinner seemed like an ego-downer for most men, it’s actually just fine for women to sometimes offer to pay. Sharing the bills, on the other hand, is one way to break this myth off or better yet, whoever asked first, he or she must be the one to pay.
Myth #2: All men like younger women. I once asked a guy friend why does he like to date women who are older than him and he said, “because older women are confident, teaches you a lot of things, knows what they want and know how to get it.” Moreover, older women are better in controlling their emotions, unlike younger women who aren’t as good as older women when it comes to handling relationship mishaps. Also, men always find older women’s maturity sexy.
Myth #3: Men are intimidated by a woman’s intelligence and success. There’s a saying that men tend to avoid women who are smarter and more successful than them but that’s not always the case. While a lot of men would probably agree that they don’t prefer women who earns more bread than them, men also doesn’t want girls who have a “diarrhea on the mouth but has a constipation on the brain.” And while women who are more successful than their guy makes men less manly, men are competitive by nature and only insecure men are intimidated with intelligent and successful women.
Myth #4: Men only wants sex, not commitment. Yes, men want sex; they are sexual creatures. But that doesn’t mean that that’s the only thing they want from women when they are in a relationship. Men also want commitment, love, family and can appreciate it too.
Myth #5: Men only go for pretty and sexy women. Men are visual and tends to seek for women who are probably as pretty and sexy as Megan Fox or Jessica Alba but the truth is, men are most attracted by a woman’s self-confidence. No matter how you look like!
Myth #6: Men are sex-starved beasts. While it is true that men thinks of sex most of the time, it is the female who wants it just as bad. And while sex seemed like a normal thing to do during first dates, there are men who wait a bit longer.
Myth #7: Men hate chick-flicks and aren’t romantic. When I watched the premier night of The Devil Wears Prada I brought my guy, although I had a pretty good idea that he wasn’t gonna like it. Surprisingly enough, he was laughing all throughout the film and really enjoyed watching it. The truth is, men doesn’t “hate” chick-flicks; some will actually sit down and make it through it, depending on what the story is all about.
Myth #8: The 2-day calling rule. When a woman is dating they think that the guy should call them two days after the date or he’s not interested in pushing the relationship deeper. The truth is, men is just as puzzled as women if she’s interested or not. Ladies, just an advice; if you’re interested with the guy and thinks that he likes you back, then why the need to wait for 2 days for him to call? Sometimes, initiating the call, telling the truth, leaving a short and sane message wouldn’t hurt especially if you feel that the date went great.
The above mentioned are just 8 of the other dating myths that should be dispelled. Dating is the most fun thing to do in a relationship and everything should be fair to both men and women when it comes to dating.
